Do not underestimate how important it is to be organized. No matter what art or craft you are doing, there are so many ways to get caught up on a project, simply because you didn’t have an item at hand.
Storage bins, crates, boxes, shelves, wire organizers…anything that can help to categorize your tools, papers, fabrics. Whatever it may be, the organization process is essential to getting projects done as well as having your own peace of mind while working.
Since starting out with my own work space, I have explored many creative outlets: Painting, scrap-booking, journals, sketching. My oh my, do the things accumulate. And I mean what a mess it quickly became in my “craft” room. I usually, end up doing most of my crafting in my dining room. Meanwhile, the craft room becomes piles of things!
I had started out with putting things in bags, then shifted to bins, yet everything still became just an unsightly conglomeration of soon-to-be projects. As I now escalate to organization cabinets, I am now seeing the floor. I have a ways to go, but I am making progress. I am taking advantage of thrift shops. Instead of spending loads of cash on new furniture, I am making the art of refurbishing a new goal. I am taking low-cost tables and other furniture and turning them into “work stations.” As more things get organized, I see myself getting so much more done, and so many more ideas ready to take life!
Now that blogging is going to be part of the process, I will have updates on ways to keep organized as I feel like this will be an ongoing issue. Please share with me, how do you do it? What has been a time-saving life-changer for you?
